We clamber over boxes and bags and squeeze our way through to the surfboard racks on my garage wall. Levi’s dad is far taller than me, so he gets the job of grappling the surfboard down. Back inside again, we discover that the board was last used on a baking hot day – its cover has completely melted onto the wax and we can’t get the board out! Finally, with the help of some crafty broomstick wielding, we manage to free the board ready for our studio photo shoot with little baby Levi.

Scrambling through my messy garage and wrestling a surfboard out of its melted on cover isn’t very typical of a newborn photography session! In this case though, it was well worth it. After discovering that Levi’s dad is a surfer, I couldn’t resist digging out one of my husband’s boards which had been sitting unused in our garage for most of the winter. Look how adorable sweet little Levi looks dreaming about the perfect wave!

I loved every moment of this newborn photo shoot. Levi’s parents were so relaxed, friendly and easy to get along with, and Levi himself was the perfect model. And on top of that, the whole family is absolutely stunning! This type of session is why I love my job!

We got to use my adorable lamb hat handmade by the local Waikato business iCrochet4u. (Thanks Anelle for your beautiful work!) These were some of his parents’ favourite photos of Levi. Is he not the sweetest little lamb you have ever seen?! His lanky puppy sidekick was pretty adorable too, but definitely still outshone by Levi himself.
