When life feels too big and overwhelming

The last couple of months have been big. Exciting, nostalgic, stressful, bittersweet, promising, and really, really big.

If you're a parent, I'm sure you know what I mean.

It has been wonderful in lots of ways, but also overwhelmingly bursting at the seams.

I'm supposed to have taken my car in for repairs (because crashing into a Grandma dropping off two young kids at preschool is a great thing to add to an already overwhelming month! 🤦‍♀️), but even though the insurance is all sorted, I haven't had any spare capacity to even book it in.

On the surface it probably didn't look too bad. My calendar and my to do list weren't as busy as they often are. Sure, I could probably have technically fit in some more things. But my mental and emotional capacity were maxed out, and I had nothing left to give.

You know what? That's EXACTLY how planning a photo shoot often feels.

You could probably squeeze one more thing into your to do list if you had to, but your heart is at its limit, and you just can't face making more decisions.

At the stages in your life that it would be most meaningful to capture your family, your life is bursting with chaos and overwhelm and big, emotional feelings as your kids fly through different stages and milestones. And adding something extra to that bigness just feels impossible.

I want to help you capture the emotions of the overwhelmingly big moments, so that you can keep hold of those feelings and revisit and re-live them over the years. So you can remember the love and the nostalgia when you are no longer overwhelmed by the intensity.

Let's make it really easy for you.

If you feel like you just can't make one more decision. If it feels almost impossible to consider reaching out to someone you don't know yet. If you've never had professional photos taken before, so the process feels unknown and new and scary. But if you also know you need to capture the bigness before this stage ends and the next chapter begins - we have you covered! ❤️

Just click here and we can step you through the process, one small, easy step after another!

Step 1

Fill out the quick photo shoot inquiry form (mention this email and we'll go out of our way to make everything even easier for you! 😄)

Step 2

We'll email or call you (your choice - mention it in the form) with some date options

Step 3

We'll book in a planning call - a chat with me (Megan, the photographer) about life and chaos and how we can capture it in all its overwhelming glory. I'll step you through everything (you don't need to know what questions to ask!), and assuming we're a good fit for each other, it will feel like a chat with an old friend.

And that's it, you're all sorted! Big moments of your life, all ready to be captured!

Aaaand if you would like to get to know me better before trusting me to capture the essence of your family, and you're wondering what has made my life feel so big lately? Here is a brief summary of some of the contributors!

  • First up, my baby started school. He's the 3rd kid in our family at the same school, so the transition was actually pretty easy and he's so excited to be hanging out with his hero big brothers. But the fallout at home has been very real! Lots of extra tension, sobbing his heart out because he got the wrong sausage at dinner, and astronomical levels of fighting with his brothers.

  • And alongside the first day of school, we had... the last day of "little school". He was the first ever baby to start there when the centre opened for under 2 year olds. All three of our boys went there. The teachers have been like a second family. He was well ready to move on, and since most of his friends were older and have already headed off to other primary schools, he wasn't feeling too sad about saying goodbye. But for me, it really felt like the end of an era.

  • I've been helping to facilitate the pilot programme of an awesome Business for Beginners course. This amazing programme gives practical support and knowledge to new business owners to help them develop their dream businesses, and I'm so excited to be part of it. I get to share my geeky passion on some of my favourite topics like business strategy and business pricing with a motivated group of new business owners. And now I'm on a mission to see how we can spread this course further to other areas!

  • The Mathematics for a Lifetime Trust is working on a super exciting new venture, and we have secured an amazing videographer to work with us as their charity of the year. It's exciting and full of potential - but involves lots more emotions and decisions and pouring my heart into my work there!

  • We've had awesome friends from Australia staying for the holidays, and did lots of socialising and playing tourist (including becoming a tourist attraction ourselves, thanks to taking some fun book character day costumes for a spin at Hobbiton!).

  • I got a new little niece who I wish I could meet (in Australia), as well as two new niece-dogs (that's a thing, right? 😆). My own family feels a long way away at the moment.

  • I took on a SECOND Treasurer position for the Te Awamutu Business Chamber. I'm really excited to get involved in some of their projects - in all my... umm... spare time. 🤪

It's felt a bit like being at an amusement park - everything is loud and demanding and exciting. Each ride fully consumes you while you are riding the wave, and you whirl from one thing to another. I love amusement parks (I'm a total rollercoaster buff, but don't put me on the spinny ones now that I'm in my 40s! 🤢🤣), but they definitely leave you feeling completely exhausted at the end of the day. It feels like I've had a month or two long rollercoaster ride!

If you relate to this feeling, you sound like we’d be a perfect fit! 😄 Get in touch so that I can get to know YOU better too!
